About Daniel Abraham

Conductor Daniel Abraham specializes in Baroque music but has also led choral and instrumental groups in various other contexts. He is also a significant educator and is active as a musicologist. In 1999, Abraham became director of choral activities at American University in Washington, D.C., and he was named director of music there the following year. In 1995, Abraham founded the Bach Sinfonia instrumental ensemble, remaining its director for 21 seasons. With that group and the Handel Choir of Baltimore, he made his recording debut in 2006 with a performance of Handel's Alexander's Feast, HWV 75. In 2023, he directed the Ensemble Sprezzatura on the album Altissima: Works for High Baroque Trumpet, featuring Baroque trumpeter Joshua Cohen.
