Chris Spedding

About Chris Spedding

One of the world's most versatile guitarists, Chris Spedding can play practically any rock & roll variation with style, skill, and passion. Spedding has an estimable career as a studio musician and a sideman, working with everyone from Paul McCartney and Elton John to the Sex Pistols and Brian Eno, and has also led bands of his own and pursued a solo career, ranging from prog to pop to rockabilly and blues. First gaining attention as a member of the Battered Ornaments and backing Jack Bruce, he scored a hit single with "Motorbikin'" from 1975's Chris Spedding. After cutting straightforward, imaginative rock & roll in the 1980s, Spedding put solo work on hold, only to re-emerge in the new century with 2002's rootsy One Step Ahead of the Blues, 2015's moody Joyland, and 2025's Macon Georgia Giant, a tribute to Little Richard recorded in tandem with the band Diamond Dogs.
