About Cassatt String Quartet

The Cassatt String Quartet has carried out a mission to perform the works of unique contemporary composers since its founding in 1985. Founded by Juilliard graduates Anna Cholakian (cello), Laura Goldberg (violin), Adela Pena (violin) and Eufrosina Raileanu (viola), the group took their name from the impressionist painter Mary Cassatt. Cassatt won fellowships at Tanglewood and Yale; early on, they took top prizes at competitions including Coleman, Fischoff, and Banff; they also received the 1995 Chamber Music America/ASCAP First Prize Award for Adventurous Programming.
