About Burnt Friedman & The Nu Dub Players

Listing German progressive rock, Gary Numan, Iron Maiden, and Tangerine Dream among early influences, Bernd Friedmann could be nothing but one of the more eclectic figures in electronica in the '90s & '00s. Friedmann dubbed his own label Nonplace, as a metaphor for where he sees himself in the music industry. The Cologne-based artist has scattered his releases through a series of aliases and alter egos, including Drome, Flanger, the Nu Dub Players, and Burnt Friedman. He has also recorded with Atom Heart as Flanger, and David Sylvian and Steve Jansen as Nine Horses. As much about aesthetic as sound, the Nu Dub Players released JUST LANDED in 2000 as ostensibly a live album recorded in a South American club, while in truth Friedmann recorded it in a studio over three years.
