About Apache Beat

Mixing post-punk glamour and gloom with tribal-tinged beats, New York's Apache Beat formed in 2006. Vocalist Ilirjana Alushaj, guitarist Phillip Aceto, bassist Michael Dossantos, keyboardist Christina Aceto, and drummer Neil Westgate released their debut single, "Tropics," as a limited-edition 7" later in the year. They followed it with 2008's "Blood Thrills" single and toured with like-minded acts such as Crystal Castles, the Long Blondes, and These New Puritans. Apache Beat was named one of the best acts of CMJ 2008 by NME magazine; that October, they re-released "Tropics" and continued to work on their full-length debut, collaborating with producer Martin Bisi in his Brooklyn studio. What proved to be their only album, 2010's Last Chants, included appearances by Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Blood Orange, and the Rapture.
