Los Angeles-based self-proclaimed "grouchrock" outfit Spanish Love Songs continue the emotional punk tradition started by bands such as Jawbreaker and Hot Water Music. Emerging in the early 2010s, the band has issued a string of acclaimed efforts like 2015’s Giant Sings the Blues, 2020’s Brave Faces Everyone, and 2023's No Joy, that combine earworm hooks with existential dread. 2025 saw them collaborating with artists like Tigers Jaw and Illuminati Hotties on the EP A Brief Intermission in the Flattening of Time.
