Choses Sauvages

French Canadian dance-punk act Choses Sauvages (translated to Wild Things in English) take post-punk trappings and infuse them with elements of disco, funk, and new wave; they were formed by six friends living in Quebec, Canada who met through the city’s live music scene. With hype building from gigs around Quebec, they released their self-titled debut album in 2017. They chose to write and perform their lyrics in French, perhaps limiting their international reach but cementing them as a staple of the French-Canadian punk scene. A second self-titled album arrived in 2021. Their third self-titled album saw release in 2025, gaining recognition from the Canada-wide Polaris Music Prize committee; it was featured on their longlist for best album. ~ Liam Martin
