The distinctively deep and animated rasp of Juvenile, suiting party anthems and philosophical tracks alike, is a key element of New Orleans hip-hop. After the rapper made himself known locally on bounce tracks in the early '90s, he went nationwide as part of Hot Boys and as a solo artist, scoring his first of four Top Ten solo albums with 400 Degreez (1998), a quadruple platinum smash fueled by the number 19 pop hit "Back That Azz Up." Consecutive gold and platinum LPs included Juve the Great (2003), led by the number one pop hit "Slow Motion," and the chart-topping Reality Check (2006), and during that period, Juvenile was also behind additional hits like "Nolia Clap," as one-third of UTP. Four additional solo efforts added to Juvenile's stack of charting projects from 2009 through 2014. He experienced a resurgence in the 2020s with an NPR Tiny Desk Performance and Boiling Point (2026), his star-studded 12th solo album.
