About Mohinuddin Dagar

Performing on the ancient Indian stringed instrument rudra vina, an ancestor of the sitar, Moinuddin Dagar expanded the tradition of the slow, meditative music dhrupad. Trained by his father, Ustad Ziauddin Khan Dagar, a musician in the court of the Maharaja of Udaipar, Dagar balanced his career as a musician with work as a music teacher. In the two decades following his American debut in 1968, Dagar maintained an influential presence in the United States. In addition to an affiliation with the American Society for Eastern Arts, Dagar was on the faculty of the University of Washington in Seattle. ~ Craig Harris
