Mick Goodrick

Guitarist and educator Mick Goodrick preferred teaching to recording. His crystalline tone and sound accounted for 14 albums and more than 100 recording credits that included five albums with Gary Burton, including Dreams So Real: Music of Carla Bley. His debut album, In Pas(s)ing, was released by ECM in 1979. In 1982 he joined Charlie Haden's Liberation Music Orchestra for Ballad of the Fallen and 1992's Dream Keeper. He joined Jack DeJohnette's Special Edition for 1987's Irresistible Forces and 1988's Audio-Visualscapes. Goodrick cut 1990's Biorhythms for CMP, followed by 1994's Sunscreams. For 1996's In the Same Breath, David Liebman and former student Wolfgang Muthspiel joined him. In 2002, with John Abercrombie, Steve Swallow, and Gary Chaffee, he released Noisy Old Men. He and Muthspiel teamed on 2010's Live at the Jazz Standard. In 2026, ECM issued the unreleased, posthumous Feebles, Fables & Ferns from 1988 with Fred Hersch.
