About Pino Palladino

Bassist, composer, and producer Pino Palladino is a first-call session and touring bassist in many genres. His playing style, notable for its meld of chords, lead lines, and countermelodies, was featured on decade-defining albums by Don Henley, Tears for Fears, and Phil Collins. During the '90s, he recorded and toured with Melissa Etheridge, Joan Armatrading, and Jeff Beck. After appearing on D'Angelo's Voodoo in 2000, Palladino's neo-soul approach was featured on recordings by Erykah Badu, Bilal, and Jose James. Between 2006 and 2016, he worked with the Who. He returned to D'Angelo and played on 2014's Black Messiah. In 2018, his playing appeared on charting albums by Keith Urban, John Legend, and Harry Styles. Palladino recorded his first leader album, 2021's Notes with Attachments, in collaboration with guitarist Blake Mills. The pair followed in 2025 with That Wasn't a Dream.
