About Carlos Dafé
One of the greatest representatives of Brazilian soul music, singer and songwriter Carlos Dafé is known for his smooth voice and songs that have been recorded by Tim Maia, Tânia Maria, Nana Caymmi, and Elza Soares, among many others. He's toured internationally, composed film scores, and released a clutch of acclaimed solo albums including the 1978 classic Venha Matar Saudades, 1983's De Repente, and 1994's O Seu Jeito De Olhar. During a 12-year recording break, Dafé continued writing for others. He returned with Bem-vindo Ao Baile on Atração Fonográfica. During a second extended recording break, he wrote for Hyldon and Seu Jorge. Arthur Verocai introduced Dafé to composer, producer, and multi-instrumentalist Adrian Younge. With musicians from Los Angeles and Brazil, they recorded and released JID025 Carlos Dafe in 2025.
