John Austin

Born in Chicago, Austin began his career just after high school. He plays acoustic guitar and harmonica and writes most of his own material. He is one of the few rising voices in alternative Christian music. Based on his first effort alone, he's made a contribution to linking authentic gospel messages with uncommercial light-rock music/folk styles. His firm but mellow vocal style is reminiscent of '60s folk heroes such as the Byrds. ~ Bil Carpenter
