Gigi Masin

Gigi Masin is an Italian composer and multi-instrumentalist with a vast catalogue ranging from ambient and modern classical to Balearic house and jazz-funk. He first surfaced with Wind, a privately pressed LP of rippling ambient pop, in 1986, followed by a split LP with Charles Hayward in 1989. Gradually, recordings such as these garnered a cult following, and Masin's song "Clouds" became a popular sample source. A retrospective titled Talk to the Sea appeared in 2014, as Masin formed the ambient trio Gaussian Curve, and began making more beat-driven music with Tempelhof. Masin has continued to remain highly productive, releasing albums with Jonny Nash, Rod Modell, and Greg Foat, as well as solo works like Kite (2018) and Movement (2026).
