About Karun

In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. One of my earliest musical memories is of me writing lyrics to a christmas song for my family as a gift. I still remember the melody, all my early songs were very bluesy or Jazzy yet simple cos I was around 8 years old. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Erykah Badu, New Amerykah, Pt. 2: Return of the Ankh Flying Lotus, Until the Quiet Comes Little Dragon, Little Dragon These albums changed my life. They showed me how deep musical expression could go, and how boundless the possibilities could be. All while the artists stayed undeniably true to themselves, no conforming. Almost as if the audience doesn't exist. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Glow Up” This song put me on the map. It was the song that catapulted my solo journey at a pivotal time in my life, when I had just come back to Kenya and was ready to do music full time. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? The most memorable moment in my career is when I performed to a small audience of creatives at Vibrate Space in Ghana. I never felt so understood and appreciated. Then again when I went back for M.aniestivities Festival. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? There are definitely things still on my bucket list. I plan to get weirder and more myself with my music, no more appealing to a wide market, I plan to go deep. One major thing on my bucket list is to release a fully self-produced album.
