Ìxtahuele

The '50s style known as "exotica" -- postwar instrumental jazz-pop that offered a largely imaginary soundtrack to the islands of the South Seas -- was embraced only by collectors or ironists long before the 20th century came to a close. However, Ìxtahuele, a most unusually sourced group of musicians, have revived the spirit of the subgenre with a unique body of work that began to amass in the 2010s and culminated with a truly unexpected release of historical proportions.
