Susan & The SurfTones

Like their name states clearly, Susan & the Surftones specialize in surf music, à la such '60s trailblazers as Dick Dale and the Ventures -- fitting in neatly with the surf revivalist movement of the early 21st century (Jumbo Shrimp, Aqua Velvets, etc.). The quartet consists of lead guitarist Susan L. Yasinski, vox organist Kim13, drummer Brian Goodman, and bassist Buck Malen. Such albums as Without a Word, Bitchin', and Thunder Beach sprinkled cover tunes along with originals, but with their 2001 compilation, The Originals, all of their self-penned compositions from previous albums were spotlighted on one disc (as well as a smattering of new tunes, as well). ~ Greg Prato
