About La Fiera de Ojinaga

As its name proudly declares, this Mexican regional fixture hails from Ojinaga, Chihuahua, hometown of the norteño con sax subgenre which incorporates the saxophone as a lead instrument, as well as electronic keyboards, to the traditional accordion and bajo sexto. La Fiera de Ojinaga was founded by Mauricio Palma, who surrounded himself with a group of experienced local musicians and secured a contract with Azteca Records. The band’s debut, A Prueba De Todo, appeared in 2013. Over the following years the group established itself as both a leading representative and an innovator of the norteño con sax, being able to both honor its roots and revamp them with other sounds and instrumentations. 10/10, the band’s 20th album, saw the light in 2025.
