Yoel Gamzou

Yoel Gamzou is an Israeli-American conductor, best known for his interpretations of music by Gustav Mahler. He grew up in a musical family, where he studied the cello and was encouraged to become a conductor. As a teenager, he completed high school early and studied in Italy with Carlo Maria Giulini. He founded the International Mahler Orchestra in 2006, and with them performed his realization of Mahler's unfinished Symphony No. 10, which was released on Wergo in 2016. Gamzou has conducted the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra, the Hamburg Symphony Orchestra, and the Stuttgart Philharmonic, and he has recorded on the Urlicht and Col Legno labels.
