About William Eggleston
William Eggleston is one of the world's most celebrated photographers, known for producing iconic, snapshot-like depictions of objects and scenes in the Deep South, and for establishing color photography as a legitimate medium of artistic pursuit. Further, Eggleston is a virtuoso pianist who has rarely performed for anyone but friends. He did appear on Big Star's cover of "Nature Boy" recorded during the sessions for Third. (Their connection was personal -- all were Memphis residents. (Eggleston also provided the iconic cover photo for the band's Radio City album.) In 2017, he released his debut album Musik. Recorded in his apartment on a Korg synthesizer, it was assembled by Tom Lunt from digital tapes and floppy discs. In 2023, 512 followed, offering standards and originals, and recorded at home on a Bösendorfer grand piano. Eggleston was accompanied by remotely recorded musicians including Leo Abrahams, Brian Eno, Matana Roberts, and Sam Amidon.
