About Steve Denny Trio

In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. Just like any other kid growing up in the 80s my earliest musical memories revolved around Michael Jackson - whether it be my MJ-themed 4th bday party, wearing out my Thriller beta tape, or searching in vain for that sparkling rhinestone glove! What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Ben Folds Five, Whatever and Ever Amen Remastered Edition Horace Silver, Horace-Scope Miles Davis Quintet, Relaxin' With the Miles Davis Quintet Remastered Red Garland's playing on "Relaxin" inspired me to pursue jazz; the buoyancy and swing of his 8th-note lines is intoxicating. Horace Silver is the pinnacle of soulfulness and groove. And BF5, songwriting and wit of the highest caliber. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Finn's Sick” My first true 'jazz' composition, very much inspired by Horace Silver and written for my nephew Finn. A melodious, heartfelt ballad that alternates between minor bluesy angst and hopeful warmth. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? Our new Christmas album! A very ambitious project, for me at least, involving wonderful guest artists, inventive arrangements, some whimsical comedic skits and much more! Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? Well, I'm still sitting on two albums' worth of recorded material, part of which is a "rat suite" I composed for all the various rats I encountered living in NYC:) Also on the list - SDTrio plays standards, plays pop, plays classical??
