Bryan Balkwill

Conductor Bryan Balkwill specialized in opera and had a repertory within that field ranging from Handel to contemporary works. He was also an educator who taught later in life at Indiana University in the U.S. Balkwill was closely associated with soprano Joan Sutherland and led some of her most famous performances. Recordings of his work continued to appear after his death, including one of a 1966 performance of Grace Williams' opera The Parlour. Balkwill died in Beaconsfield, England, on February 24, 2007.
