M. Sage

Matthew Sage's creative work spans publishing, teaching, sound design, and other intermedia interests, though he is best known as M. Sage, producer of nuanced ambient music and founder of the influential cassette label Patient Sounds. Based in Colorado, he has been musically prolific, issuing solo albums and collaborations that explore electro-acoustic sounds, minimalist chamber music, field recordings, and other experimental avenues for a variety of labels including Geographic North, Moon Glyph, and RVNG Intl. Along with acclaimed solo works like 2023's Paradise Crick and 2025's Tender / Wading, Sage is also part of the experimental jazz collective Fuubutsushi, which has been releasing music since their formation in 2020.
