About Bobby Ross Avila

Bobby Ross Avila is a singer, songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist known for high-profile collaborative work across genres and solo recordings firmly rooted in traditional R&B. His unique trajectory begins at the age of 14, when he hit Billboard's R&B/hip-hop chart with "Music Man" (1989). He soon made a lasting connection with Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, releasing his second album, My Destiny (1993), on the top-tier producers' Perspective label. Along with younger brother Issiah, Avila became part of Jam & Lewis' Flyte Tyme studio team, an association highlighted by extensive input on Usher's diamond-platinum Confessions (2004) and Chaka Khan's likewise Grammy-winning Funk This (2007). Bobby and Issiah, aka the Avila Brothers, became the first Mexican-American music producers of the Super Bowl halftime show when Usher sought them out for his performance at Super Bowl LVIII. The elder Avila subsequently returned to solo activity with Return of the Gentleman (2026).
