About Jon Lucien
Raised in the British Virgin Islands, vocalist and songwriter Jon Lucien emigrated to New York in 1965 and established himself in the city's blues and jazz clubs. He signed to RCA and released his solo debut, I Am Now, in 1970, a showcase collection of jazz and pop favorites. The follow-up, Rashida (1973), was comprised solely of original material and included the hits "Lady Love" and "Rashida." After signing with Columbia, 1975’s Song for My Lady and 1976's Premonition kept him on the radio and gigging internationally. Personal struggles kept Lucien from recording during the '80s, but he returned with albums for Mercury with Listen Love in 1991 and Mother Nature's Son in 1994, before he signed with Shanachie during the late '90s. Lucien launched the Sugar Apple Music label to release his own recordings including Man from Paradise in 2002 and A Time for Love in 2004.
