Dick Brave

Dick Brave is actually the alter ego of German pop/rock singer Sasha, who performed as Dick Brave between 2003 and 2005 as part of the neo-rockabilly group Dick Brave & the Backbeats. Sasha was born Sascha Schmitz in Soest, Germany, on January 5, 1972. Schmitz signed with Warner Music in 1998 and released his debut solo album under the name Sasha that same year. The mock rockabilly Dick Brave project began as a joke in 2003, but the Dick This! album took on a life of its own and ended up hitting the top spot on the German pop charts that same year. The group was always intended as a one-off, and Sasha returned to using his own name in 2006. ~ Steve Leggett
