About Gawain Glenton
Cornetto player and early music director Gawain Glenton was raised by a musical family, and he tried out a variety of musical instruments before settling on the cornetto. Glenton attended Manchester University, where he earned a degree, then worked with Bruce Dickey at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis. Glenton has collaborated with many period ensembles, including the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, the Gabrieli Consort and Players, The City Musick, the Gonzaga Band, His Majestys Sagbutts and Cornetts, the Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra, La Nuova Musica, the English Cornett and Sackbut Ensemble, Il Giardino Armonico, Concerto Palatino, Les Talens Lyriques, and the Taverner Consort, as well as his own consort, In Echo, which he co-founded with Kirsty Whatley. Glenton teaches at the Dartington International Summer School, and participates in its annual festival. His first album with In Echo, Music in a Cold Climate: Sounds of Hansa Europe, was released on Delphian in 2018. ~ Blair Sanderson
