About Jorge Ilegal y Los Magníficos
Formed from the remnants of satirical Spanish collective Ilegales, Jorge Ilegal y los Magníficos eschewed the rock & roll of their previous incarnation in favor of a sound inspired by the Latin music of the 1950s. Featuring five members from the long-running collective (including frontman Jorge Martínez), who split earlier in the same year, their self-titled 2011 debut featured a mixture of bolero, tango, cha-cha, and guaracha, including cover versions of tracks by Adriana Celentano ("Si Spento el Sole"), Lucho Gatica ("Besame Mucho"), and Joan Baptista Humet ("Miradla"). ~ Jon O'Brien
