In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. At 4 years old, listening to Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue, I wanted to play it, dance it, conduct it. As soon as I could read music, I plunked out the first several measures on the piano. And 3 or 4 years after that, I was playing it for real!
