About Nicole Willis
In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. As a child I gravitated towards indie music and film score / soundtrack, playing my parents records such as Paul & Linda McCartney's Ram (1971), the soundtrack of Un homme et une femme (1966) and The New Birth's Birth Day (1972). What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Aphex Twin, Richard D. James Album Boards of Canada, Music Has the Right to Children Stereolab, Dots and Loops Approaching 30 year anniversaries of their releases, I always return to these timelessly influential records for heavy rotation. These, along with John Barry, Ennio Morricone and Wayne Shorter arer essentials. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Edible Cop Show (feat. Garland & Jemima & Daniele Willis)” This is a spacious trippy/funky electronic track that indicates my new direction as a music maker. Strictly instrumental, I'm using my other 'voices' that don't employ lyrics and vocal chords. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? The moment I realised that true authenticity requires prioritising ones own vision over the modus operandi of the collective. There's just so much more to do! Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? I intend on making a film score one day, hopefully for my own film works.
