About Charles Castronovo

The repertory of tenor Charles Castronovo boasts several roles in unusual operas as well as Italian and French standards. Castronovo made his debut in 1999 as Beppe in Leoncavallo's I Pagliacci opposite Plácido Domingo. Castronovo made his recording debut in 1997 on the opera-rock fusion project Angelica. In 2000, he was heard in a recording of I Pagliacci conducted by Riccardo Chailly, and he has been heard on many operatic recordings. Castronovo has appeared on musical theater recordings, and in 2013, he released Dolce Napoli, an album of Neapolitan songs. By 2023, when he appeared under conductor Riccardo Frizza on a recording of Mascagni's L'amico Fritz, his recording catalog comprised some 30 items.
