About Richard Julian
An idiosyncratic songwriter, fingerstyle guitarist, and keyboardist, New York-based singer/songwriter Richard Julian demonstrates a knack for strong melodies and a playful poetic sensibility that has garnered praise from Randy Newman. After releasing his eponymous debut album in 1997, Julian had his critical breakthrough with 2002's Good Life, leading to a tour in support of Norah Jones. Over the next ten years, he released guitar-centric solo albums like Slow New York (2006) and Sunday Morning in Saturday's Shoes (2008), as well as a pair of LPs with Jones and others as a member of the Billboard 200-charting country-rock outfit the Little Willies. After a brief stint in New Orleans, he co-founded the popular Brooklyn restaurant and music venue Bar LunÀtico in 2014. Julian's eighth solo album, 2025's Hit & Run, saw him continue a shift in focus from guitar to keys prompted by his time in NoLa.
