About The Citations
England's Citations were a short-lived band that primarily specialized in instrumentals, with a sound similar to that of the Tornados. Their one and only single, for EMI's Columbia label, featured a "Telstar"-like A-side called "Moon Race," backed by a much more interesting and promising track, a rip-roaring cover of Little Richard's "Slippin' And Slidin,'" complete with very convincing vocals and a frantic saxophone. If the group had done more like that, they might've carved a place in the memory, but they disappeared in 1964, with their anonymous members scattered to the wind. ~ Bruce Eder
