About Lô Borges
Lô Borges was one of the creative pillars of the Minas Gerais collective Clube da Esquina, which he co-founded with Milton Nascimento. Borges enjoyed a 53-year career as a composer, songwriter, and Brazilian pop musician (MPB). His music, anchored in folk, pop, and samba traditions, offered a marked psychedelic twist, influenced by the Beatles. His musical rise during the 1970s was also closely linked with those of Nascimento and Beto Guedes. Their artistic exchange brought elements of jazz and Minas Gerais regional music to most of his albums. They included Clube Da Esquina, an eponymous debut (both 1972); Nueva Sigana (1982), Meu Filme (1996), and the 2000s releases Feira Moderna, Harmonia, and Rio Da Lua. In 2023, he celebrated 50 years of recording on Não Me Espere Na Estação with an orchestra. His final album was 2025's Céu de Giz – Lô Borges convida Zeca Baleiro, with the lyricist.
