About 360

Since emerging as a boom bap torch-bearer in 2008, 360 has used a unique blend of deft penmanship and pop sensibilities to become one of Australia’s biggest rap artists. Born Matthew Colwell in 1986, he was raised in Melbourne’s Ringwood suburb. As a kid 360 was more interested in Michael Jackson impersonations, but by secondary school, he officially embraced hip-hop. In 2008, he cemented his status as an artist with What You See Is What You Get, an earnest, autobiographical LP with spurts of self-aware lyricism grafted onto classic boom bap instrumentals. With 2011’s Falling & Flying, he became an early adopter of dubstep and electronic music while distilling his typical brand of thoughtful songwriting (“Child”) into pop soundscapes. On subsequent releases like 2014’s Utopia and 2017’s Vintage Modern, he’s only refined his technique as a nimble lyricist with the instincts of a natural hit-maker.
