Lucy Railton

Lucy Railton is a British cellist, composer, and curator whose work pushes the edge of electro-acoustic composition. After graduating from the Royal Academy of Music, appearing on dozens of recordings, and performing at numerous contemporary music festivals and venues, she made her solo debut with the 2018 full-length Paradise 94, a jarring mixture of intensely amplified cello and industrial noise textures. She followed it with numerous collaborations, ranging from soundtrack compositions to Bach reinterpretations and field-recording projects before issuing the solo Corner Dancer in 2023, an album that incorporated viella (a medieval stringed instrument), a Roland TR-808, horsehair whips, and more. The solo cello outing Blue Veil followed in 2025.
