In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. My earliest memory, at age 5, was being taught how to play the top part of "Heart and Soul" on the piano by a neighbor girl not much older than me. We entered a church talent contest. She played the bottom part; I played the melody, and we won. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Joan Armatrading, Joan Armatrading Remastered Laura Nyro, New York Tendaberry Neko Case, Fox Confessor Brings the Flood It's hard to narrow down to 3 favorites, but I chose these records because they each had a major impact on my songwriting: all full of story, soul and, the spirit of jazz is infused in the Laura Nyro and Joan Armatrading records in particular. Tell us why you chose this song. “Miss Lonely Hearts” It's about the Hitchcock character, a woman seeking love in the movie “Rear Window”. In despair, she nearly swallows a bottle of pills, until she hears a beautiful song written by a lonely man. Music saved Miss Lonely Hearts, music saves me, always. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? I will always treasure a performance of the Tom Waits song, "Take it With Me" that brought an audience member to tears. It's my favorite Tom Waits song. Before I started to perform it, it always made me cry. So beautiful. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? Though I've been writing and performing songs since I was a teenager, I feel like I'm just getting started. There is so much more to do and so many more ears to reach.
