About Angelika Niescier
Angelika Niescier is a Berlin-based alto and soprano saxophonist and composer. Her well-established jazz signature combines intricate structures with improvisational acumen. She possesses first rate musical status on both the European and American jazz scenes. Sublim and Sublim II appeared in 2002 and 2004. 2009's Sublim III included pianist Florian Weber in her quartet. 2011's Quite Simply was recorded with Tyshawn Sorey and Thomas Morgan. 2015's Broken Cycle showcased her with Hilmar Jensson and Scott McLemore, while 2016's NYC Five was co-billed to Weber. After signing with Intakt, she released 2018's prize-winning The Berlin Concert with Sorey and Chris Tordini. 2019's New York Trio included Tordini and Gerald Cleaver. Broken Cycle 2 appeared in 2021. 2023's Beyond Dragons offered a tri-billed touring trio with cellist Tomeka Reid and drummer Savannah Harris. In 2026, she issued the internationally lauded Chicago Tapes, recorded with an all-Chicago septet.
