About Deana Carter
Singer-songwriter Deana Carter’s father was Nashville session musician Fred Carter, Jr., who played on Bob Dylan and Johnny Cash LPs and wrote the guitar intro to Simon & Garfunkel’s “The Boxer.” ∙ Carter’s first big musical break came when Willie Nelson heard her demo and personally asked her to perform at Farm Aid in 1994. ∙ Her first two singles, “Strawberry Wine” and “We Danced Anyway,” hit No. 1 on the Country charts. ∙ Carter’s 1996 debut album, Did I Shave My Legs for This?, went five-times Platinum. ∙ “You and Tequila,” from her 2003 album, I’m Just a Girl, later became a big hit for Kenny Chesney and Grace Potter. ∙ In 2007, Carter honored her dad’s music career with The Chain, a covers album featuring several of his collaborators and songs, including “The Boxer.”
