Thomas Morgan

Thomas Morgan is an American jazz bassist, arranger, and composer whose many recording and performing credits reflect an immense musical range. He made his recording debut with Short Stories (People, Places, Times), followed by 2002's Down Homeless. In 2006, he joined the Dan Weiss Trio for Now Yes When and Tyshawn Sorey on That Not and 2009's Koan. He played on Paul Motian's On Broadway, Vol. 5 and 2011's The Windmills of Your Mind. In 2013, Morgan appeared on ECM dates led alternately by Giovanni Guidi, Craig Taborn, and Tomasz Stanko. He joined guitarist Jakob Bro's touring and recording bands in 2014. In 2017, Morgan and Bill Frisell issued the duo set Small Town, followed by 2019's Epistrophy. During the 2020s he continued working with Frisell and Bro. In 2025, Morgan issued his leader debut, Around You Is a Forest.
