The Newton Brothers

Combining chamber music, orchestral arrangements, electronic music, and instrumental rock, the Newton Brothers are a composing team best known for their poignant and suspenseful horror scores, including many for director Mike Flanagan. After working separately for the likes of Hans Zimmer and Tomandandy, Andy Grush and Taylor Stewart's first collaborations under their duo moniker appeared in 2007. Their first film score for Mike Flanagan was 2013's Oculus, and they reunited with the director over a dozen times in the next ten years, including for 2019's Doctor Sleep and popular mini-series like The Haunting of Hill House (2018) and Midnight Mass (2021). Meanwhile, their many projects for other directors included Pawn Shop Chronicles (2013), Mary (2019), Five Nights at Freddy's (2023), and the Marvel/Disney+ series X-Men '97 and Daredevil: Born Again. The Newton Brothers teamed up with Flanagan again for a 2026 mini-series adaptation of Stephen King's Carrie.
