Within Temptation

One of the most commercially successful metal bands in the Netherlands, Within Temptation has had 9 consecutive Top 5 albums on the Dutch charts and sold millions of records worldwide. ∙ Founding partners Robert Westerholt and Sharon den Adel originally started the band in 1996 under the name The Portal. ∙ After releasing their debut album, Enter, in 1997, the group had a massive breakthrough with their Platinum follow-up, 2000’s Mother Earth. ∙ The Gold-certified 2000 single “Ice Queen” was Within Temptation’s first major hit and remained the closing song at nearly all of the band’s concerts. ∙ They featured multiple collaborations on the 2014 album Hydra, including songs with rapper Xzibit, Soul Asylum frontman Dave Pirner, and operatic metal singer Tarja.
