Montreal-based electronica artist Martin Dumais blends ambient music, 20th century avant-garde, and psychedelic shoegaze elements for a heavy yet mesmerizing sonic experience. Recording under the name AUN, Dumais released three solo albums on the Montreal label Oral before perfecting his self-described “blight metal”--dark compositions comprising intense, slow-moving drones--on 2009’s MOTORSLEEP. Dumais is as influenced by the classic ambient albums of Brian Eno as he is by My Bloody Valentine, a combination he delivers as successfully in frequent live performances around his native city as he does in his recordings.
