About Ryan Hanifl
In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. Performing with the La Crosse BoyChoir of WI, on a 1989 European tour, staying at the Melk Abbey in Austria, performing in all these incredible Gothic Cathedrals in Austria, Germany, and Czech. I was 12. The reverb in those places still haunts me. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Alice In Chains, Dirt (Remastered) Jeff Buckley, Grace Radiohead, The Bends The Bends is a timeless alt-rock sonic tapestry of angst, urgency, and brooding anguish. Grace is transcendent, haunting, and raw with emotion and unadulterated talent. Dirt for its heaviness, for its lyrical honesty and vulnerability. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Precious” It's a dark, ambitious track with a string arrangement I still enjoy. Lyrically, it conveys struggle and disillusionment, while the music is biting, dreamlike, and mysterious—a dark journey. Even if it didn’t have vocals, it would be an adventure. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? In 2012, I had the priveledge performing Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No. 8, "Symphony of a Thousand," with Gustavo Dudamel conducting the LA Philharmonic at the Shrine Auditorium. Over 1,000 musicians on stage made it a mind-altering, epic performance. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? Really just to start releasing music again and feeling like I've accomplished that feat after being so scared to release anything for so many years. It’s been nearly 2 decades now. It's quite tragic.
