About Amina Claudine Myers

Amina Claudine Myers is a vocalist, organist, pianist, composer, and arranger whose original music incorporates blues, gospel, and modern jazz. After moving to New York from Chicago, she became a studio and touring collaborator with Arthur Blythe, Frank Lowe, Jim Pepper, Charlie Haden, and Bill Laswell, among others. Her 1979 solo debut, Poems for Piano: The Piano Music of Marion Brown, was followed by the equally lauded Salutes Bessie Smith in 1980. During the 1980s, she issued a number of critically acclaimed albums and the charting LPs Amina and In Touch. 2009's Augmented Variations appeared on her own Amina C label and was followed by Sama Rou: Songs from My Soul. After collaborating with Wadada Leo Smith on 2024's Central Park's Mosaics of Reservoir, Lake, Paths and Gardens, she returned with her own Solace of the Mind in 2025.
