Abdomen

Intense Dutch power trio Abdomen have evolved from straightforward garage punk to a kind of Motorik, psychedelic noise-rock informed by everything from Krautrock and shoegaze to hardcore and post-rock. The band was formed in Leeuwarden, Frisia, consisting of guitarist/vocalist Peter van Beets, bassist Ate Kamsma, and drummer Roel Meijer. Their early cassette single releases were raw, trebly garage punk; their debut album Emetophobia, recorded in Leeds, England, continued in much the same vein, but with far superior production. Abdomen's plans for a follow-up were derailed by the COVID-19 pandemic, which meant their second album took about two years to make. Recording in Aarhus, Denmark, the band radically overhauled their sound, fine-tuning their new songs through a painstaking process of rehearsal and retooling in the studio. The album, entitled Yes, I Don’t Know, finally appeared in 2025, a full seven years after their debut.
