About The Sleeping Beauty
In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. On Sundays, when singing an unfamiliar hymn, I would anticipate the melody of the next bar based on the melody of the bar I was currently singing. I think this was training for composing. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Bill Evans Trio, Waltz For Debby (Live At The Village Vanguard / 1961) Cocteau Twins, Victorialand Remastered Philippe Bernold, Claude Debussy: Sonate pour flûte, alto et harpe; Les chansons de bilitis; Syrinx Just listening to the first few seconds of the first song, “My Foolish Heart,” I feel my whole body melt. The tone of the entire album, the touch, and the interplay of each musician is mind-blowing. The other two albums have the same effect on me. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Prairie Home Suite, Pt. 2” When we heard that Ryuichi Sakamoto had included this song in a playlist he created for a restaurant in New York City, we couldn't find it in the excerpts. When we checked the full article in the New York Times, it was selected as the opening track! What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? We had the opportunity to perform at the Hara Museum of Contemporary Art in Shinagawa, Tokyo. Our album “liv” was not only sold in the museum store, but was frequently played as in-store music, and we played live when we released “auguries” in 2008. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? We have several new songs that we have not released, so we would like to make a new album.
