James Carney

An excellent Los Angeles-based pianist with an advanced style that builds upon the innovations of the past, James Carney was originally an orchestral brass player and a pop keyboardist from New York. He began playing jazz in 1986, studied at the California Institute of the Arts (where he graduated in 1990), and recorded a couple of stimulating sessions for the Jacaranda label. ~ Scott Yanow
