About Boulou Ferré

Django Reinhardt was the undisputed king of the manouche jazz style; his legacy lives on in guitarist Boulou Ferré, who often works alongside his brother, guitarist Elios Ferré. A prodigy, Boulou made his recording debut on 1965's The 13 Year Old Sensation from France. During a 20-year run with the SteepleChase label, he issued nine albums, among them the classics Pour Django and Gypsy Dreams. 1986's trio outing Nuages also included bassist Jesper Lundgaard. In 1997, the siblings issued New York, N.Y., winning over North American audiences. 2003's The Rainbow of Life offered a bracing conception of swing. Boulou's Solo appeared in 2013, while 2015's La Bande des Trois was with Elios and Christophe Astolfi. The brothers paid tribute to their father Matelo Ferret and uncle Baro Ferret on 2023's Fathers & Sons, and released Boulou & Elios Ferré and Friends in 2024.
