The Gizmos

The Gizmos were among the first American punk bands, forming in 1975 and embarking on their first recording session in 1976. Equally influenced by proto-punk and what we now think of as classic rock, the Indianapolis band created a raw, lo-fi sound that had the same energy as other early punks, but a quirkier feel. The original band released three EPs before splintering, though different lineups soldiered on into the early '80s. The band reunited in the mid-2000s for some live shows, and a collection containing all three EPs was released.
